Anxiety therapy in Ann Arbor, MI and online across Michigan
Feeling insecure, worried, overwhelmed?
Most people who start therapy feel stuck repeating the same painful patterns. Maybe you feel like you want to escape your life or you’re noticing that you complain a lot about feeling stressed, tired, and unfulfilled.
Stuck in negativity and feeling worried all the time, you may feel like life is controlled by anxiety. Do any of the following resonate with you?
You feel like you lack motivation to do anything.
You lost the joyful feelings that you used to have in life (or maybe can’t recall ever feeling joyful).
You feel dread, fear, strange thoughts, and a pounding heart.
You feel like you’re living at a frenzied pace leaving you frazzled and stressed.
You feel like you are wandering through life, feeling like something is missing or your balance is “off.”
If any of these sound true for you, therapy can help. What you are experiencing is normal, and it’s great you’re seeking help.
Break the cycle of anxiety
It’s possible to feel better. Imagine a life where you could…
Really feel joy.
Stop worrying all the time.
Improve your relationship with yourself and others.
Create a more meaningful life based on who you are and what you desire, rather than feeling endless pressure to live up to others’ expectations.
Get to the root problems and solve those instead of using band-aids.
How will healing happen?
Deepen your understanding of you
You may feel like your anxious thoughts have always been around and will always be as intense as they are now. Together, we will explore the roots of these thoughts and patterns. What we often find is that somewhere along the way, our nervous system developed this strategy of anxiety in an attempt to protect us from bad things happening. When we connect with that, we can find safety in ways that feel more aligned with who we are today and who we want to be in the future.
Develop concrete tools
Not many people ever learn how to respond to anxiety and worry. In a world full of well-intentioned people telling you, “Just don’t worry about it!”s, it can feel overwhelming to figure out just what to do with these thoughts and feelings. In our sessions, we’ll develop your toolbox with research-backed ways of responding to your feelings so that you can nagivate your emotions with confidence and calm.
Increase your self-compassion
When we’re experiencing uncomfortable feelings, it can often feel like we’re at war with ourselves. We are simultaneously having the feeling and also resenting having the feeling in the first place. Utilizing evidence-based modalities, we’ll practice mediating these inner conflicts and inner peace will flourish. When we learn how to hear all these different parts of ourselves more clearly, we often feel a boost in self-compassion because we see how each of them are in their own way trying to help.
Feel less alone
You may have been judged, shamed, or rejected for your worries throughout your life. You may have been told you’re “too sensitive” or “just being dramatic.” This may have led to you holding in all your feelings to stay safe. This is so understandable and so painful. Through the process of my deep listening to you, I will support you in deeply listening to yourself and in building relationships where you can truly feel seen.
